Our Story

Since the 1980s business and public leaders have sounded alarms to reform public education in the United States, highlighting risks to our national and individual wellbeing and civic unity. But the pace of improvement has been slow and the pandemic only accelerated parental dissatisfaction. From San Francisco to Loudoun County, parents have been mobilizing efforts to improve their children’s education. This has been especially evident in our Nation’s capital. More than ever before, parents in Washington, D.C. are expressing their desire for more education options. They want a return to a knowledge-based curriculum that will prioritize their children’s moral development, preparing them to engage problems and find solutions. They want an education that teaches students how to read, write, and think critically, and act nobly. They want their children to be able to look at the world with wonder, embracing opportunities to be problem solvers who seek solutions with humility, logic, creativity, and ingenuity.

In June 2021, several families from my church, reached out to me expressing these same desires. This led me to spend the next several months considering the possibility of starting a new school on Capitol Hill. And after speaking with dozens of other experts in the field, was persuaded of the need for a full-time, K-12 school, the Capitol Hill Christian Academy (CHCA).

CHCA is being created to partner with parents and churches to lay a rigorous academic, intellectual, and spiritual foundation for students. Our goal is to start small and grow slowly to ensure sustainability and quality, beginning with grades K-1 and building up to the 12th grade. At CHCA, we will teach students to learn from the wisdom of the past and to ethically address the questions of the future with the relevant skills, tools, and technology. We are humbled and excited by your interest in learning more about CHCA.
